West Noble dominated the Lady Cougars in the middle two stanzas scoring 27 points to the Cougars 9. After opening up the first quarter with a 12-8 lead, Central Noble was dominated in every aspect of the game during the second and third quarters by the Lady Chargers. Trailing by 14 (21-35) entering potentially the final quarter of their middle school careers the Lady Cougars left it all out on the court; overcoming that deficit and outscoring West Noble 17-1 over the last 6 minutes to take home a 38-36 victory.

Ice water in her veins – Bella Worman stood at the free throw line with 18 seconds remaining in the game and trailing the Chargers 34-36. Missing her only two attempts on the evening previously, she calmed herself and nailed both free throws to tie up the score at 36 apiece. Worman answered the bell again shortly there after as time was ticking off of the clock and a teammate’s shot missed the mark with just under 10 seconds left; Worman was able to put in the go ahead bucket with 7 seconds left. The Lady Chargers were able to get the ball down the court as the Cougar defense frantically stopped the Chargers from tying the game.

Worman and Zolman led the offensive attack in the fourth quarter with 11 of the 17 points between the two of them. Zolman was the overall scoring medalist for the Cougars as she finished with 9 points. She also led the team in steals with 4 on the night and contributed 7 rebounds, an assist, and a blocked shot to round out her stats. Courtney Gray and Chrissy Slone followed Zolman’s performance with 8 points apiece of their own. Both ladies also chipped in 4 rebounds apiece while Worman ripped down 9 on the night. Rounding out the scoring were Worman with 6 points, Kyleigh Egolf with 5, and Lilly Lawson with 2 points. Egolf and Worman also chipped in 2 assists apiece and both rejected a Charger shot apiece on the evening.

The Lady Cougars are now 10-5 on the season and have advanced to the semi-finals of the Jr. NECC tournament with a home matchup with Westview looming on Thursday evening. The Cougars will host the Lady Warriors approximately 15-20 minutes following the 7th grade contest in the Central Noble High School main gymnasium.
