After nearly a two week hiatus from competitive games due to weather cancellations; the seventh grade ladies picked up exactly where they left off with a 39-17 victory over the Lady Eagles from Churubusco.
In a very physical game from the start; the ladies all did a fantastic job remaining composed and playing with their heads. Kennedy Vice added to her team high 12 points per game average with 17 points on the evening, she also tied for team honors with 10 rebounds and fell just shy of a triple double with 6 steals on the defensive end. Adding to the defensive stats she swatted 2 shots away.
Kierra Bolen knocked in 4 buckets for 8 points, while Avery Deter and Kensy Kimmell followed behind with 6 and 5 respectively. Addison Lindsey hit three free throws to round out the scoring with 3 points of her own.
Tying Vice with team honors on the glass was Kimmell with 10 boards. Deter and Taylor Custer contributed 5 and 4 apiece to help the team. Deter also dished out 4 assists on the evening adding to her 6 steals on the defensive end. Kali Koontz followed Vice and Deter with 4 thefts. Bolen and Kimmell each swiped 2 balls apiece on the night.
The Lady Cougars are now 5-1 on the season and are back in action Thursday evening at Fremont (weather permitting). Next week the ladies have five contests in six days as they compete on the road at Lakewood Park (Monday), Lakeland (Tuesday), and West Noble Shootout (Saturday). Their lone home game next week is Thursday evening versus Wawasee.
